O que tenho a dizer de todos os livros de Mary é que seus personagens são encantadores, tanto os homens quanto as mulheres, mas David Bates, superou, em muito, minhas expectativas, uma autora americana escrevendo um POV masculino de um homem, um bloke, britânico... eu que já amava Adam Kincaid dos outros livros, agora caí de amor por David Bates. What I have to say of all the books of Mary is that her characters are charming, both men and women, but David Bates, surpassed, by far, my expectations, an American author writing a male POV of a man, a bloke , a British ... I already loved Adam Kincaid of other books, now I fell in love with David Bates.
O livro se passa um tempo à frente do final dos livros de Adam e Nikki e é contado pelo ponto de vista, narrado em primeira pessoa, por David Bates, o vice presidente, agora com 37 anos, de uma empresa multinacional de investimentos. David é um solteirão convicto, que ama as mulheres e que sabe conquistar qualquer uma, isso nós já sabemos desde o primeiro livro, quando Nikki e ele, ainda adolescentes, vivem uma situação quente, que deixa Adam morrendo de ciúmes. The book takes a while ahead of the end of the books of Adam and Nikki and is told from the point of view, narrated in first person, by David Bates, vice president, now 37, of a multinational investment company. David is a confirmed bachelor, who loves women and knows how to win any, which we already know from the first book, when he and Nikki, still teenagers, living a warm situation, which leaves Adam dying of jealousy.

David and Allison start a friendship, much different than he is used to, they will keeping everything in a platonic level, I thought they took a little bit to finally they get together, but it was a bit less experienced that what happened to Adam and Nikki.
Não posso falar muito mais sobre o livro, mas posso dizer com toda a certeza que Mary Whitney escreveu um livro ainda mais interessante do que os anteriores, com menos questões políticas (americanas), que nós brasileiros não entendemos muito, um livro divertido e um personagem mais que perfeito... adorei as citações de James Bond, mas devo dizer: I can not say much more about the book, but I can say with certainty that Mary Whitney wrote a book even more interesting than the previous ones, with less political issues (American), which we, Brazilian people, do not understand very well, a fun book and a character more than perfect... loved the quote from James Bond, but I must say:

After the bartender took our drink orders, she looked up at me, “I’m going to say this because it’s true. I’m not blowing smoke. You really were a little like James Bond at the table.”I grinned. “How so? Because I had a beautiful bird at my side?”
“No. Just what I said before. The accent, the suit, playing cards…” Her smile turned shy, and she swiveled on the stool. “I think the word is dashing.”
“Well, thank you, but that’s not really a word that applies to me.” She had no idea how much I appreciated the compliment. Our drinks had only just arrived, though, so the time wasn’t right to get to serious. I held up my glass. “To Lady Luck, which you seem to be for me.”
She clinked her glass to mine. “I’ll toast to luck, but I don’t think that’s a good name for me.”
“As a Bond girl, you do need a name.”
“Oh, God. Not one of those.”
“Let’s see. Which is your favorite?”
“I’m not going to play this game.”
“Why ever not?”
She poked her finger at my chest. “You just want me to say the names because they’re dirty.”
“Not true. I was just making conversation.” I took a sip and smiled. “And I wouldn’t say they’re dirty, just a tad naughty. So what’s your favorite name? Pussy Galore or Honey Ryder?”
“I’m not going to answer that.” She was playfully smug.
“I’ve always been partial to Plenty O’Toole.”
“What movie was she in?”
“Diamonds Are Forever.”
“Am I missing something? Plenty O’Toole doesn’t sound sexual to me.”
“O’Toole?”
“Like Peter O’Toole?” She shook her head. “I don’t get it.”
“Ah, I suppose tool is a British word.”
“For what?” She held up her hand. “Stop. You don’t have to tell me. I figured it out.”
“Such a clever girl.”
“It wasn’t that difficult.”
“I’m so happy to have expanded your vocabulary, love. Now which do you prefer? Pussy Galore or Plenty O’Toole?”
The twinkle was in her eye, but she kept mum with her lips pressed together. I chuckled. “It’s all right, love. There’s no wrong answer.”
“Do you torment every woman you meet like this? I know you can’t at work or you’d have sexual harassment issues right and left.”
